· octoScope Wi-Fi 6 Test Tutorial Series:
#1 Line of Site (LOS) / Non Line of Site (NLOS) channel emulation
Live demo of Wi-Fi 6 rate vs. rant (RvR) test running in the LOS and NLOS condition

#2 RvR with rotation
Getting meaningful and repeatable throughput results using a turntable.
In this session we discussed common sources of error in throughput measurements and ways to the use a turntable to achieve repeatable results.
We also discussed measurements vs. device orientation.
We showed live demos of a Wi-Fi 6 link running RvR (rate vs. range), RvRwR (rate vs. range with rotation), RvRvO (rate vs. range vs. orientation) and RvOvR (rate vs. orientation vs. range) and related these to real life scenarios.

#3 OFDMA deep dive
In this session of our tutorial series, we explained how OFDM and OFDMA work and examined specific challenges of OFDMA.
Since the advantages of OFDMA are apparent only with many stations in the link, our demo used octoScope’s palBox with 16 traffic endpoints and 12 synchroSniffer probes.
We also showed a live demo of Wi-Fi 6 throughput and OFDMA performance.

#4 synchroSniffer
Using a multi-probe sniffer for OFDMA, roaming and other system tests

#5 Fundamentals of RF link budget
When measuring performance of wireless devices and mesh networks, an RF testbed must have the environment to demonstrate
performance VS. the operating range. In this session we reviewed the FR environment fundamentals and demonstrated how to estimate RF link budget for any test scenario.
We showed live demos of mesh topology path losses as we dynamically reconfigured the mesh.
We also analyzed roaming of a station around the mesh.

#6 TR-398
In the session our CTO, Leigh Chinitz, provided an overview of the Broadband Forum TR-398 standard for testing Wi-Fi performance.
He reviewed the test cases, pass/fail limits and the octoBox testbed that runs the automated RT-398 scripts and our systems engineer,
Prachi Somkuwar, showed a live demo of those scripts.

#7 Antennas
In the session we took a deep dive into the fundamentals of antenna physics and the methodology of achieving optimum MIMO
and MU-MIMO performance in a wireless testbed. We showed live demos of impacts of antenna placement, polariztion and spatial diversity.

#8 Testbed testing vs test house testing
In this session we looked at the similarities and differences between testing in a testbed vs in a test house.
We reviewed industry recommendations on the topic as well as looked at current state of the art parctices.
While comparing the two from a number of angles we described the optimal roles for each methodology.

#9 IETF RFC 2544 and IEEE 802.11.2 for Wi-Fi testing
In this tutorial we reviewed IETF RFC 2544 that is sometimes recommended for testing Wi-Fi routers.
We examined the history adn original goals of this RFC and showed that the incarnation of this RFC being used for
Wi-Fi is the portion that has been incorporated into the IEEE 802.11.2 specification for Wi-Fi performance testing.

#10 Mesh Wi-Fi
In this session we focused on mesh Wi-Fi. We looked at the origins of the technology as well as its evolution to date.
We reviewed the mechanics of how mesh works and the types of technology variants curredntly deployed.
Time was spent on demonstrating roamin, steering and other typical use cases in a mesh.
We looked at how mesh enhances the user experience by extending range as well as improving performance within the range.
Focus was on how to test these enhancements in a controlled testbed such as the octoBox

#11 Mesh Wi-Fi Conticued
In this tutorial we continued our analysis of mesh Wi-Fi. We looked at various mesh topologies and the impact of an increasing amount of wireless
hops to the throughput as well as the latency of a connection. We also drilled into the steering algorithms implemented in mesh products and some
of the current challenges that we see in the market.

#12 Target Wake Time (TWT)
In this tutorial we discuss Target Wake Time (TWT) and how it enables devices to determine when and how frequently the wake up to send or receive data.
This allows devices to increase sleep time thus reducing power consumption. TWT can also be used to reduce overlap and contention
between stations resulting in optimized spectral efficiency. We demonstrate how the octoBox testbed cna be used to test various TWT parameters
and will show the impact to traffic scheduling and throughput.
